Aujourd’hui, le 21 juin 2024, la Chambre préliminaire I de la Cour pénale internationale (« CPI » ou « la Cour ») a, à la demande du Procureur, rendu public le mandat d’arrêt à l’encontre d’Iyad Ag Ghaly pour des crimes de guerre et des crimes contre l’humanité qui auraient été commis au nord du Mali entre janvier 2012 et janvier 2013. Le mandat d’arrêt avait été initialement délivré sous scellés le 18 juillet 2017. M. Ghaly n’est pas détenu par la CPI.

Monsieur le Président, permettez-moi tout d’abord de vous remercier de me donner à nouveau l’occasion d’informer le Conseil de sécurité sur la situation au Darfour, mais aussi de vous adresser, ainsi qu’à la Sierra Leone, mes sincères félicitations pour votre accession à la présidence du Conseil pour le mois d’août. Today, 4 October 2024, Pre-Trial Chamber I of the International Criminal Court (“ICC” or “CPI”) granted the Prosecutor’s request to unseal six arrest warrants issued in the Libya situation on 6 April 2023 and 18 July 2023. The arrest warrants concern war crimes allegedly committed in Tarhunah, including murder, outrages upon personal dignity, cruel treatment, torture, sexual violence and rape.

Aujourd’hui, le 4 octobre 2024, la Chambre préliminaire I de la Cour pénale internationale (« CPI » ou « la Cour ») a accordé la demande du Procureur de lever les scellés sur six mandats d’arrêt délivrés dans le cadre de la situation en Libye le 6 avril 2023 et le 18 juillet 2023. Les mandats d’arrêt concernent des crimes de guerre présumés qui auraient été commis à Tarhuna, notamment des meurtres, des atteintes à la dignité personnelle, des traitements cruels, des actes de torture, des violences sexuelles et des viols.

Today, 20 November 2024, Trial Chamber X of the International Criminal Court ("ICC" or "Court") sentenced Al Hassan Ag Abdoul Aziz Ag Mohamed Ag Mahmoud to 10 years of imprisonment following the Trial Judgment in which the Chamber found him guilty of some of the charges brought against him of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed between early May 2012 and 29 January 2013 in Timbuktu, northern Mali. The sentence may be appealed before the ICC Appeals Chamber by either party to the proceedings.

Aujourd'hui, le 20 novembre 2024, la Chambre de première instance X de la Cour pénale internationale (« CPI » ou « la Cour ») a condamné Al Hassan Ag Abdoul Aziz Ag Mohamed Ag Mahmoud à 10 ans d'emprisonnement à la suite du Jugement de première instance l’ayant déclaré coupable d’une partie des charges portées à son encontre concernant des crimes de guerre et crimes contre l’humanité commis entre début mai 2012 et le 29 janvier 2013, à Tombouctou, dans le nord du Mali.

Aujourd’hui, 21 novembre 2024, la Chambre préliminaire I (« la Chambre ») de la Cour pénale internationale (« la Cour »), dans la situation dans l’État de Palestine, a rendu à l’unanimité deux décisions par lesquelles elle a rejeté les exceptions soulevées par l’État d’Israël (« Israël ») en vertu des articles 18 et 19 du Statut de Rome (« le Statut »). Elle a également délivré des mandats d’arrêt à l’encontre de MM. Benyamin Nétanyahou et Yoav Gallant.

Aujourd’hui, le 1er janvier 2025, le Statut de Rome, traité fondateur de la Cour pénale internationale (CPI), entre en vigueur pour l’Ukraine. L’Ukraine devient officiellement le 125ème État Partie à la CPI, et le 20ème État de la région Europe orientale.

Aujourd’hui, mon Bureau va déposer deux requêtes aux fins de délivrance de mandats d’arrêt dans la situation en Afghanistan auprès des juges de la Chambre préliminaire II de la Cour pénale internationale.

The Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) welcomes the arrest and transfer of the suspect Mr Rodrigo Roa Duterte, former President of the Philippines, on 11 March 2025 by the authorities of the Republic of the Philippines. Mr Duterte has been arrested in the context of the Office’s ongoing investigation into the Situation in the Republic of the Philippines.

Today, 21 June 2024, Pre-Trial Chamber I of the International Criminal Court (“ICC” or “the Court”), at the request of the Prosecutor, made public an arrest warrant against Iyad Ag Ghaly for war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed in northern Mali between January 2012 and January 2013. The arrest warrant was initially issued under seal on 18 July 2017. Mr Ghaly is not detained by the ICC.

Five weeks ago, the International Criminal Court detected a serious cyber security incident, thanks to the alert mechanism provided by its monitoring system. The ICC has made various and serious efforts to address this attack. The Court deems it is its responsibility to continue to inform about these efforts and to provide the relevant additional information on the attack itself.

The Office of the International Criminal Court Prosecutor received a referral of the Situation in the State of Palestine, from the following five States Parties: South Africa, Bangladesh, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Comoros, and Djibouti.
