Abstract
The National Administration of the Archives and Records of the United States laid out a full array of documents of the Smolensk Regional and City Committees of the Party for 1917-1941. This collection, captured during the Second World War, hides unique information about the policy of councils in the Smolensk region, during the period when the BSSR was proclaimed there, Belarusianization was carried out and the question of transferring the region of Belarus was raised.
