Safe Havens for Archives at Risk Initiative

In the framework of the Mandate “Archives and Dealing with the Past” by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), swisspeace initiated a policy debate on the topic of Safe Havens for Archives at Risk in 2015. This process resulted in the development and the endorsement of Guiding Principles for Safe Havens for Archives at Risk by the International Council on Archives (ICA) in autumn 2018. The work of the international working group “Safe Havens for Archives at Risk” is still ongoing and in September 2019, it was transformed into an Advisory Committee for Safe Havens for Archives at Risk.
