Research Opportunity - Archival diplomatics’ authentication techniques
Abstract
The research team, from the University of British Columbia in Canada, want to to interview (in English or Arabic) individuals who verify YouTube videos captured in conflict-affected regions as part of their work in human rights, civil society organizations, or journalism. The research team designed, after two years of research and practice, a novel process to verify citizen journalism videos captured in conflict-affected regions. Their goal is to integrate the verification process of open-source investigators with the authentication process of archival science to expand the current workflow of open-source human rights investigators and better authenticate YouTube video evidence. Notes
I confirmed with the researcher that 1) this is a UBC study that's gone thru ethics review, 2) they can do interviews in English and Arabic and want worldwide participants, 3) they will do later dates of interviews as well so including the item to the Oct newsletter is fine. (jR)
