Why cultural heritage must be integrated into International Development
Abstract
Cultural heritage embodies a community’s history, traditions, identity, and memory – making it a frequent target in conflicts. While the importance of protecting cultural heritage is recognised in the SDGs and by international and military organisations, International Development has yet to fully acknowledge its importance. This research aims to explore how cultural places foster resilience, community cohesion, and nation-building.
